2007 anniversary of the abolition of slavery - The DfES has just launched what seems to be a very good website providing some helpful
resources for teaching about the abolition of slavery.
'The Big Conversation 2007' is a national competition, debate and showcase to encourage Key Stage 3 (KS3) students to explore the legacies of the transatlantic slave trade. The project seeks to encourage teachers, educators and students to examine the transatlantic slave trade and its legacies. Schools are encouraged to enter their resulting research into a national competition.
Schools which open up their doors to pupils, parents
and local people outside of traditional hours can expect improvements in performance, research published today has found.
South Devon College are playing host to a Dance Platform at their
new theatre on June 30th.
They want you to join them in a celebration of all things nautical by
bringing a dance or movement piece to the show. It costs absolutely nothing to join in the fun
and will give pupils /students an opportunity to perform in professional surroundings.
Over the last 7 years, the context within which
schools and settings have worked has changed. There have been significant successes; schools and
settings have improved the quality of education for our children.
The Islamic Experience Exhibition is being brought to Torbay
by SACRE, the Torbay Islamic Centre and Torquay Museum from 22nd January – 16th February
2007. All Torbay schools have received a booking form for free visits to the Exhibition. For
