Torbay Council is a large organisation providing a range of services to the community. To administer the services efficiently it is necessary to process personal data. Some of this information is held in manual files and some on computer and is only used by authorised staff to provide and administer services. Sometimes the Council is required to disclose some of this data to other parties.
As an 'audited body' Torbay Council is legally obliged to provide relevant data to the Audit Commission under Section 6 of the Audit Commission Act, 1998. This data is used in the National Fraud Initiative's (NFI) data matching exercise. This year's exercise includes data collected for Council Tax purposes.
