The Mayor of Torbay, Gordon Oliver, has personally pledged half his annual salary for the next four years to give one -off support to groups, organisations and individuals in the Bay.
The fund will be applied for annually and priority will be given to applications from local groups, organisations and individuals based in and delivering a service that directly benefits the Torbay community.
Grants of up to £1000 will be allocated for winning projects that will be progressed in the following 12 months.
Torbay Mayor Gordon Oliver said, “I believe passionately in community involvement and see this as a way not only of giving back to the community but also ensuring local people are involved in local matters.”
A cross party group has been set up to administer the fund consisting of Cllrs Nicole Amil, Cindy Stocks and Jackie Stockman, who said, "We are really pleased to support this initiative. The fund is about making a difference to local people's lives in the Bay and we look forward to seeing those projects take shape."
Community and Voluntary Sector organisations or individuals, who wish to apply, will need to download and complete the application form on this page.
Alternatively interested parties can email governance.support@torbay.gov.uk or ring 01803 207015 and they will be sent a copy of the application form to complete.
Applications must be returned by post to the following address by the closing date 2 March 2012. Successful applicants will be notified by letter by 30 March 2012.
