Emergency Planning

The Council’s Emergency Planning unit co-ordinates planning, training, and exercises, to ensure that in the event of a major emergency, Torbay Council can:
The following emergency plans have been prepared to enable the Council to respond to a range of major emergencies. If you would like a hard copy please contact the Emergency Planning team.
Torbay Council is represented on the Devon and Cornwall Local Resilience Forum (LRF). The LRF has developed Combined Agencies Emergency Response Protocols to assist agencies in planning the response to major incidents. The LRF has also developed a Community Risk Register to assess the risks within the LRF area. This is used to prioritise multi-agency emergency planning and can be viewed on the Local Resilience Forum website
Emergency Planning also promotes Business Continuity Management to the commercial sector and voluntary organisations.

Preparing for Emergencies

The Government has produced an information booklet 'Preparing for Emergencies - What you need to know'. It gives practical common sense advice on what to do in an emergency - for example, a fire, terrorist attack or natural disaster.  Visit the Preparing for Emergencies website opens in a new window for further information or to download a copy of the booklet.  The council has produced and distributed a similar leaflet (see below).
