Friends of the Palace Theatre
Who are the Friends of The Palace Theatre?
The friends Of the Palace Theatre are 1,000 plus people who care for the Palace theatre and it's future.
They are dedicated to supporting the theatre by raising awareness of it's place in the community by promoting its productions, and by raising funds for it's continual improvement.
The friends applauded the council's decision to invest in the future of this wonderful theatre in 2005 and along with the friends, & English Heritage raised over £933,000 for the complete refurbishment of the venue to bring it into the 21st century.
Some of the work involved in the refurbishment included
- Improved Disability Access
- Repairs to the roof and fabric of the building
- New raked enhanced viewing seating
- New temperature control systems including air conditioning
- Better Box Office facilities.
- Extension to the bar area
The friends maintain a presence in the theatre by meeting and greeting everyone who visits the theatre, they continue to develop the portfolio of the theatre by holding functions such as their monthly coffee mornings to raise much needed funds to keep this valuable theatre running.
Although the main refurbishment has now taken place there is still much more to do!
