Ability shows itself in different ways, and in every school there are children who are Gifted and Talented.
Our aim is to encourage all pupils to fulfil their potential; their potential therefore needs to be identified and nurtured. It is important that there is clarity about how these needs are identified and that policies are in place to meet them. Schools and parents are becoming increasingly aware that the most able pupils have an entitlement to an appropriate curriculum, which will enable them to achieve in relation to their abilities.
The development of the 'Gifted and Talented Strand' of the 'Excellence in Cities' initiative has also enabled schools and local authorities to focus more closely on provision for our more able and talented pupils.

Creative Writing Workshops
As part of Torbay LA's Gifted and Talented enrichment programme, twenty four Torbay pupils and their parents recently attended creative writing sessions, led by storywriter Chris Waters at Torquay Museum. The excellent exhibition about the Romans inspired the pupils and parents to write collaboratively. At the end of the sessions, everyone enjoyed listening to the excellent stories produced - see Related Documents below to view the stories.
